VFUG Meeting: Wednesday, September 20, 2006
Topic: Tips & Techniques - David Fung and Sam Robbins
David Fung's topic is "Don't Repeat Yourself" - don't
write duplicate code. He will use "highlight on entry" as an example to
demonstrate this principle, first implemented with inheritance and then
with a behaviour object.
Sam Robbins will review some of the issues raised at
last April's Great Lakes Great Database Workshop (GLGDW) conference -
some of which were controversial.
David Fung is doing business under the name of AMG Computing,
a custom software development and consulting firm in Port Moody, BC.
He specializes in extending legacy systems with modern technology to
meet new business needs. He has designed and developed numerous desktop
and web-based database applications for businesses in different
industries and in different countries.
Sam Robbins is Manager, MIS of B.C. Rapid Transit Co.
Ltd., operator of the Vancouver metropolitan area SkyTrain rapid transit
system. SkyTrain uses VFP extensively in its operations, and is one of
the largest VFP users in Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest.
